Roast Beef – Onion Panini
Serves: 2
Ingredients:
● 4 thick slices sourdough bread
● 4 teaspoons Dijon mustard or to taste
● 2 roast beef slices
● 1 cup Gruyere cheese, shredded
● 2 large onions, thinly sliced
● 2 tablespoons olive oil
● Salt to taste
● Pepper to taste
Method:
Place a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add oil. When the oil is heated, add onions and sauté until it is golden brown in color. Turn off the heat.
Smear Dijon mustard on one side of the bread slices.
Spread ¼ cup cheese on 2 slices of bread. Place a slice of beef on each. Layer with onions.
Spread ¼ cup cheese over the onion layer.
Cover with the remaining bread slices, with the mustard side facing down.
Switch on the Panini press and let it preheat.
Place the sandwich in the Panini press, in batches. Operate the press following the manufacturer’s instructions. Cook for 3-5 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve right away.
